Shortlist for International Print Biennale Print Awards 2014 Announced

37 artists have been shortlisted from 740 entries in this year’s Print Awards 2014. Part of the International Print Biennale taking place across the North East from June. The winners will be announced at a special event on 27 June.

Galleries across the North East will also host special print exhibitions and events including, Laing Gallery, Queen’s Hall Arts Centre, Hexham and Bowes Museum, offering visitors the perfect opportunity to visit their favourite venues and see something completely new.

Susan Tallman, Selector and Editor–in-Chief, Art in Print, Chicago, USA highlighted:
"..The group we ended up with is diverse. It includes abstract work and figurative, conceptual content and lush aesthetics. What unifies these works is the particular quality of attention with which the artists engaged the external world. Each, in its own way, declares a passion for the specific, for the closely observed detail: a gesture, a face, a spot of earth. They suggest that even in a world suffused by the generic, experience is always singular if you stop still and look.”
